RE: Mit's Sprites and Such - Kitsu - 01-26-2014

I think rather that his right leg, the shading implies that it's straight, when it should probably be showing that that leg is bent, especially considering his left leg is visibly bent. The shading on his left leg is also kinda flat, unlike everything else in the sprite.

The seams/jeans pattern look kind of off-center/quickly scribbled on or something, also.

I think I fixed the shading a bit. his right leg's still feeling a little bare, but I think it looks good.

EDIT: changed the mustache's positioning a bit.

EDIT2: here are some palettes (and a minor color fix)

RE: Mit's Sprites and Such - Mit - 03-24-2014

oh jeez I haven't updated this in a while. better late than never, I s'pose

some Punch-Out related stuff. I think Mac came out the best, and Popinski definitely needs the most work

a few ref scribbles

some Dr. Mario related platformer stuff that may or may not be used for anything

and lastly, some Mega Man-styled ref sprites. I don't think they follow the rules exactly, though I have some alternate palettes that'll help in case they don't

double post but I've got some stuff done, and I plan on making it a whole sheet

I think the eyes are pretty awkward. If you are going to give that much emphasis to the nose and the cap, you might have to give up some eye space. The way you have it, it would seem like the top of Mario's eyes were aligned with the top of his nose, which is, of course, not possible. I would suggest something like along these lines [Image: 9IEd8SI.png]

Also, I for one don't like the blue, it doesn't contrast all that well and it's excessively dark. No biggie, though.

RE: Mit's Sprites and Such - Omnikariz - 03-27-2014

At 1x his I can barely see where the legs are, which I think it just because of the poor contrast between the darkest two shades of blue and the fact that the outline isn't the darkest color on the sprite. His legs also are really short compared to his body, hell, for the standing sprite he can almost touch his shoe.
His arm swing is really weird, too his right arm kind of just looks like it hits a wall and stops completely.

EDIT: woops forgot to mention all this crit is for the run cycle

how does this look? I basically erased his left (our right) eye, gave the mustache a bit of AA, and brightened the overalls a bit. I did the same with Luigi and gave his darkest overall shade a bit more contrast

RE: Mit's Sprites and Such - Iocus - 03-29-2014

Mmhm, it's better now.
Though isn't the left leg (his right leg) a tad too short on the last three frames of the loop? (i.e. when he faces entirely forward) Maybe it's just me.

I think I botched the perspective a bit. I'm actually gonna redo the walk cycle since the leg movement isn't 100% accurate
EDIT: here are a few

original
[Image: s8gR9dI.gif]
edit 1: stronger, the bouncy "jog" I had wanted
[Image: gf2HzlY.gif]
edit 2: weaker, more of a standard walk. looks kinda weird with the exaggerated arm swings
[Image: Bfuv6bh.gif]
a combination of 1 and 2, probably would be used for slowing down, then holding right

EDIT2: here's a minor edit of the stronger one. I made the leg swings less forced

RE: Mit's Sprites and Such - Mit - 04-14-2014

RE: Mit's Sprites and Such - orochii - 04-14-2014

Those smilies are just lovely.
Can't say anything else, I'm biased by their beauty, sorry.

RE: Mit's Sprites and Such - Mit - 04-14-2014

and with that-
[Image: M34RUsi.png]
here's some more
I fixed Metal Mario's shading to look better, added Luigi retro smilies, and Smash Palettes for Mario, Luigi, and Wario

RE: Mit's Sprites and Such - Crappy Blue Luigi - 04-15-2014

thanks for the love!

RE: Mit's Sprites and Such - Mit - 04-16-2014

a reasonably large update

added (hipster), (gonk), (brows)/(nudge)/(sneaky), (hatless), (sovery*****y), (luigiscared), and some Waluigi palettes
also changed soveryscary and soverynothing to be more scary and more accurate to the original, respectively

RE: Mit's Sprites and Such - Omnikariz - 04-16-2014

Wow! These are great!
Each one of them kind of has their own charm to them.

[Image: 8bxMY.png] especially this one
