Wind Waker Rips

RE: The Legend Of Zelda Wind Waker Rips - Garamonde - 02-19-2012

This is marvelous! I want to see more! Big Grin

However, I noticed a problem with your icon and preview for Hyrule Castle.

To fix the icon, I would suggest using Icon Maker V3, and then paste your model render into the icon so that the inside borders will not be cut off (you can move the image around using the arrow keys, or your mouse, and add text by going to "Text > Add Text". It would also be nice if that door with the white light stayed as white in the icon, instead of turn transparent).

For the preview, it would look better if the render took up all of the space in it, leaving no blue background showing on the sides. To do this, I would make a new layer in your render image, and then paste the preview image border on the new layer, and then you will have your preview (hope I explained that right lol). Smile

Hope that helps!

Thanks! I'm using Icon maker v3 but I have issues with the transparency (see my thread about Mario Kart : Double Dash)

Okay then, to fix the white turning transparent, you go to "Image > Transparency > Background > Pure White", and that should fix it. Big Grin

RE: The Legend Of Zelda Wind Waker Rips - Peardian - 02-19-2012

Hooray! We can definitely use some more Wind Waker models. The Makar thumbnail is great, but the Hyrule Castle one definitely needs fixing up. As Mighty Jetters said, the door should be white (as that's how it is in the game), and the image itself is going outside of the borders.

Also, please note it's really unnecessary to include the thumbnail and preview images inside the submission itself, since they're meant for the site. Tongue

Oh yeah, and be sure to fix the MTL files like I mentioned with the MKDD models.

Actually thats not the problem. I removed the white from the door itself. But the problem is with Icon Maker is that the edges dont turn transparent so you get ugly icons etc (Just look at the icons of Mario Kart Double Dash they are ugly as shizz)

Fixed! Actually forgot that model because I re-exported it for some changes.

I see, maybe you have to render your models with alpha transparency? I can do this in Cinema 4D (I render the model to exactly 95 x 79 (the dimensions of the icon), and then I use Photoshop to put the render in manually). That should fix it. And if the model happens to stick out of the borders a bit, I re-paste just the border over-top of... the border. Tongue

RE: The Legend Of Zelda Wind Waker Rips - Peardian - 02-19-2012

Unfortunately, yeah, the Icon Maker isn't good with transparent images. You'll have to use image editing programs like Photoshop or Fireworks somewhere along the line, but it's up to you how much. There are two methods you can use:

Method A
1: Copy the blue part out of the template and stick it in Photoshop/Fireworks (I recommend saving this for future uses.)
2: Place your render over the blue area as you like.
3: Copy the result.
4: Paste in the Icon Maker

Method B (what I use)
1: Use Icon Maker to generate a blank thumbnail with the Text you want.
2: Copy from Icon Maker (no need to save the file).
3: Paste into Photoshop/Fireworks.
4: Place render on top of it as you like.
5: Mask render so that it doesn't overlap the frame.
6: Done!

There you go, setting a way better example than me again Peardian! Tongue

But yeah, the way I do it personally is more or less re-size the model to 95 x 79 and paste it on just the icon background (without the border, like Pear said) manually and then save it.
