I'm working on some sprites, and before I used a program(can't remember the name) to animate and check out how everything went along so that I could fix errors I'd made. Now that I don't have it anymore, I thought I'd ask what some of you use, big bonus points if it's free and easy to get legally

You might have meant GraphicsGale.
There's a freeware and shareware version,
the freeware being unable to:
Save and Load GIF
Save and Load Windows Icon(*.ico)
Save and Load Windows Cursor(*.cur)
Save and Load Windows Animated Cursor(*.ani)
You can also use Previous' own animation tool for your sprites,
which is free.

Thank you, it was Graphics Gale now that you mention that! But I'll check out Previous's tool as well!
PREVIOUS, if you read this, I LOVE YOUR PROGRAM. It's such a simple interface and works like a charm
