Bronies - TKGB - 12-30-2011 05:25 AM

Well I've been seeing this for a while now. The whole My Little Pony phenomena that is sweeping the internet. From what I understand is that adult males are big fans of this show. At first this sounds strange but I can actually understand why they would be fans of something like that. It's not the same thing but I happen to be a fan of magical girl anime (well, at least if it's not too girlish) and hell I like lolicon as well. Now people can call that strange, which is why I rarely mention it. Which is why it caught my attention this show that everyone seems to be talking about. The fact that this show is getting a huge popularity means that there is an acceptance to people who watch this show, which is fine with me. However, I have noticed something that bothers me: the bronies themselves.

Is it just me or do these bronies sound really self-righteous? I can understand if you like the show, collect the figures, chat amongst fans, but these people go overboard sometimes. I went to Yahoo Answers and just searched for Bronies. Now this guy made this post:

Quote:For example I see people going like "AH HUR DUR WHOS A BRONY HERR?" and their annoying My Little Pony avatars and these people are middle aged men. Is this some joke? I might be losing faith in the internet. I'm not a brony hater as my son is brony himself. I just think bronies need to keep things to themselfs and leave everyone alone.

And here is one of the answers:

Quote:Well, because we're BETTER than everyone else ESPECIALLY Thomas. I find it so hilarious how stupid you look over the internet, Thomas. You're under the impression that we're all "Obsessed" with the show which is completely illogical. Sure, I'll admit it. There are quite a few bronies who are frowned upon by the rest of us. They're shunned in our community, but the other 94% of us have lives. We just enjoy the show and are thus bronies. It's that simple, now stop curving the bullet and making yourself look like an even bigger retard than usual. Anywho, we have the balls to watch the damn show despite the girly cover. It's an absolutely jawdroppingly good show and we try our HARDEST to persuade everyone else to watch it because we try to spread the word. It's funny. This entire thing is almost turning into a religion. It's like our lady Lauren Faust just created an entire religion in a YEAR.

What the heck is that about? And you think this is only one bronie answering in a immature manner, well it's not. Look at this other post:

Quote:We don't. The reason you think this is probably because you went on youtube or something and typed in "My little pony: FIM" so your the only one to blame here. And how are mlp avatars annoying? Everyone has a right to have whatever they want as their avatar, BUT OH NO, let's all comply to YOUR perfect plan for the internet, right?

*sigh* haters gon hate

^^and fyi: I RARELY say that, because most people typically are just expressing their concerns. But this is just ignorant hate right here. And bronies shouldn't be the reason your'e losing faith in the internet...there's A LOT worse than bronies here.

And that's just on Yahoo Answers. YouTube is far worse. Weather they are being praised or ridiculed, bronies act very superior for some reason. When there is a hater video, naturally they will stand up for their hobby, but when they are being praised, they act like they are supposed to be praised, as if that was the naturally thing to do. In my opinion, everyone should have a say to what they like or don't like as long as it's rational. If a person does not like the show, then no one has a right to tell that person they are wrong without proper reason, that is if said person explains why. If the person just says "Ponies sucks, bronies suck, blah blah blah" then yes they have no right to say that, but if a person gives a good explanation as to why they don't like bronies and My Little Pony, bronies still complain like they are being prosecuted or something. And like I said, even if they are being complimented, they act really pompous and arrogant.

I know there is a term that bronies use. I think it's "Love and Tolerate". If this is a credo of sorts, why don't people follow it? If this show is about love and toleration, why do bronies act like they gotta bear arms to defend their hobbies. Hobbies are suppose to be fun but bronies take is super serious.

Because of this phenomenon, I actually wanted to see the show myself. I wanted to check out the show to see what adults see in it and maybe get an idea of what everyone is talking about. Who knows, maybe I'll like it. But I can't watch this show knowing that the same people my own age that watch this show act as I've described. I get enough from that from the Sonic fanbase, which sadly I'm a part of, I don't want another to be in another fanbase that I'm ashamed of. Why must bronies act like that? Why can't they tolerate opinions. I think this behavior is the reason why bronies get a bad rep. I think if they didn't act like that than maybe nobody would hate the ponies as much as they are being hated.

If there are bronies in this forum and this post seems mean, I apologize for that. What I was going for was a serious tone. I hope no one gets insulted by this by any means and try to understand what I was trying to convey.

RE: Bronies - Kat - 12-30-2011 05:29 AM

I'm a little bit drunk here but let me say what I'm going to say

you may like anything you want, as long as you are not annoying with it, I'm cool with you.

RE: Bronies - TKGB - 12-30-2011 05:33 AM

That's what I'm saying as well. If people love My Little Pony, that's fine, I just wish that people were reasonable with their actions.

RE: Bronies - Kat - 12-30-2011 05:56 AM

then why the long post?

Like I didn't even read it I just posted

I mean hell, there is a "WHAT DO YUO HATE ABOUT FANDOMS" thread where you could just have copy pasted my quote and all would work.

I mean if they are acting self rightoush and shit well then they are being annoying.

wow I like Anime IIDX video games, and doctor who, i am clearly the best person ever and you are all below me because I have superior tastes to you (no what the fuck kinda garbleshit is that? everyone is cool. everyone chill.)

whatever, lets talk about my little ponies.

It seems like an interesting show, didn't watch much of it but I wouldn't say it's bad.

RE: Bronies - Rosencrantz - 12-30-2011 05:56 AM

Pretty much
yeah
you like it, good for you! Just stop forcing it down my throat because I don't really care.

Honestly, I should have a much more negative outlook on bronies in general because I have only ever met one cool one, all the other bronies I've had the pleasure of knowing are extremely unlikeable creepers (and I of course do not mean they are creeps because they like this series, they have their own unique quirks that makes me want to avoid them at all costs !!)

but yeah, it's whatever

don't really see this thread going very far anyway, sooooo

See, see. This is what I'm talking about. Over reacting. This is all I see from bronies. If you really wanted to get through me, you should've typed it in a more readable fashion. Instead you just raged all over it. You should've typed it legitimately instead of exploding out the words. You should've proved me wrong and corrected me in a mature manner and then you would've ended up making me look like the fool. Instead, you just proved me right. Assuming you are a bronie that is. If not, then you're just making real bronies worse off.

RE: Bronies - Kat - 12-30-2011 06:05 AM

I'm not even raging, I've also been drinking.

I may be a bit more heavy worded when drinking

I'm not even a bronie, I've seen like 5 minutes of one episode then ALL OF THE CUTE

but yeah, there are things about all sorts of fandoms that most people hate, ithats all I am saying really.

RE: Bronies - Altrez - 12-30-2011 06:09 AM

After reading through some of the memes on the internet I think it's fully possible that it could be mass trollage, unknowingly caught on by people everywhere.

Try not to take it seriously.

Oh. I forgot. I'm sorry about that.

RE: Bronies - Koopaul - 12-30-2011 08:24 AM

So how how about that HUGE Donkey Kong phenomena that's sweeping the internet huh?

Yup, I heard its real and awesome and not fake! And it totally exists too!

RE: Bronies - Previous - 12-30-2011 10:48 AM

OH WELL so I guess I can't get around throwong my own two cents into this thread.

Yes, I do like the show. For whatever reasons there are, that could be a topic on its own.
Now about that thing you were talking about. Like Kat said, you have these overly self-righteous people with their superior taste in every fandom. That 'phenomenon' is not exclusive to the so-called 'bronies'. This is the internet. Few people can easily be mistaken to be representative for a whole group. That doesn't mean that all MLP fans are like that. There are some who run around with their 'love and tolerance' motto but haven't got what it really means. But there are also others who do.
Long story short, there certainly are stupid people in the fandom - like everywhere. But there are also people like me (probably stupid, too, but in a differrent way) - I like the show, you don't - that's cool! It is none of my business. Love and tolerance, eh? Cute

By the way, oB2k, do I have to take that as a personal insult?! :'(

Also, I do have a Donkey Kong poster on my wall which lists like all the games.

I like rape Blank duck on duck rape. 40% of duck sex is rape. There's an interesting fact.
But in all seriousness, no I do not like rape, and shall never endorse it. But if someone like s MLP it's not really a big deal, as I find the designs of some cute and adorable anyways. But people (most anywho) don't give me shit for being an avid fan of extreme metal, and let me tell you, there's a lot of annoying assholes who are into extreme metal. But people realize they're outnumbered by people like me, which is the same for MLP, people just tend to ignore that and plot them all into a group of creeps. Sending some love out to my man Previous. Shy
