My Kinnikuman, and Ultimate Muscle Sprites - Ramenking - 03-13-2011

Hi I have some sprites I did of my favorite anime Kinnikuman, and its sequel Ultimate Muscle. I have had these for awhile, I was gonna sheet them but I decided against it because Im not that good of a shader. And I couldnt really get wrestling style moves on this size of sprites so I just gave up on the project before I got to deep into it.

Well here they are...

I just figured I would show them to see if you guys would have played a game with these type of sprites.

The tiny amount on the left are the ones I did for Ultimate Muscle, and the large number of characters on the right are Kinnikuman characters.

The style is an edited version of LSW... called LSWi. LSWi was made by Angryboy, and I used his base as a refrence for most of my sprites.

Thats all critique and criticize.

quantity rather than quality. though i doubt you could actually add some sort of shading without either breaking the style or sacrifying the readbility.

if you have something else besides sprite edits, we'd be glad to see them.

I wasnt really trying to go for Quantity over Quality, I worked the hardest I could to makes these look as good I could. I could shade them but Im not much of a shader, and if they were shaded it would not break the style it would probably make them better, but unfortunately that is a skill I lack. I know in your eyes these are crap, but that was the best I could deliver.

These are the only sprites I ever tried at, I havent sprited in a long time, and Im not planning on starting back up now.

Thank you for the criticism.

by quantity i mean you made a lot of them, and thats all one could praise on this. they're the same recolor of the same exact base sprite so desing wise there's much merit on them, besides the small details you added to each body to create each individual. if anything, you certainly did a good job to get every character's pattern to a point where they are clearly readable.

though if you are not going to shade them, neither you are planning on making anything else with them or at least have interest on doing anything else, what kind of feedback one could posibly give you? you do claim to not being much of a shader, but you already did shade them. laying the first set of colors is already part of the shading process. considering you already did a decent job with the readbility, i donhy you can't apply a second layer of colors. as long as you make it subtle enough, you'll be fine.

Thank you for the suggestions, I will try to give them a second color.

As far as making each sprite an individual from the other it is quite hard to do so with the small scale I have. I tryed to make each as different from each as I could.

I only said I dont plan on spriting anymore cause I found your first post a tad offensive.

But I thank for following it up and telling me what I could fix, I will try to see what I can do as far as shade them. But I really cant at this size of sprite make them look that different from each other.

I thank you once again for your input.

I want to point out that we aren't criticizing your work to offend you, but rather to help you improve.

From what it looks like you could improve them if you really wanted to. Even if you don't know how to shade you can look up some of the tutorials we have to give you an idea on what to do, if it helps.

i should point also that you would improve way more if you actually dropped the base and worked on your own custom work. even if you only manage to complete one single sprite, that single sprite alone would mean an improvement beyond any amount of base edits you could perform.
