RE: Emonga - triptych - 08-10-2010

Not everything needs to be shaded
stop shading literally every section of every part of every sprite

RE: Emonga - Novally - 08-10-2010

yeah he's right. I've done that before with a metool sprite I made. the black part could just use 2 pallets of black.

RE: Emonga - GrooveMan.exe - 08-10-2010

That's awkward advice.

When colouring 'black' things, never use a pure shade of black or grey. Never. Instead, use a hint of blue or brown or whatever to give some depth.

you mean like in my icon (headphones) Right?

RE: Emonga - GrooveMan.exe - 08-10-2010

At a glance, you're using pure black, yeah. Then again, the majority of that sprite is monochrome, so it's hard to tell.
Anywhoo this thread isn't about you. =|

RE: Emonga - Video_Pochi - 08-10-2010

Is this shading right?

No. Well yeah but it's still solid black try like a dark aqua blue. Thats what I would use.

RE: Emonga - Video_Pochi - 08-10-2010

its not solid black?
But I suppose more contrast can't hurt

You say this like you're already using way too much contrast when even the version with "more" contrast(I'm seeing zero difference between the two) looks like solid black.

RE: Emonga - Video_Pochi - 08-10-2010

Well i can see how would think that, i didn't pay much attention to the palette when i made it.

So any other errors before i start making animations

RE: Emonga - Gors - 08-10-2010

instead of simply making it lighter, go for a more blue-ish tint.

also its feet don't match the perspective of the body, and the arm nearer from us looks hella long compared to the farther one. I also don't get how you colored the outline. Usually the outline is darker than the color inside it, not the other way round.

RE: Emonga - Video_Pochi - 08-10-2010

Like this?

RE: Emonga - triptych - 08-10-2010

seriously?
you're upping the luminosity maybe 1 or 2 levels every time someone tells you to up the contrast

add some contrast stop being a pussy about a tiny sprite that looks like it was thrown together in 2 minutes

RE: Emonga - Video_Pochi - 08-10-2010

Isn't contrast the difference in the colors like lightest and darkest?
I just didn't want it to look blue is all.
