Snorunt, done in 7 minutes.

His right foot (our left) looks kinda like it's behind it's "cloak", and it's hands and feet seem blocky

RE: Pokemon G/S/C Devamp Project - Garamonde - 05-23-2011

You have to spend more than 7 minutes on something for it to be really nice. It also doesn't have enough lighting and the cloak looks bland to me, though I wouldn't know how to fix that. The dithering on its foot doesn't quite look right to me. Oh and there's a slight jag towards the top of its head.

Aren't these sprites limited to four colors?

RE: Pokemon G/S/C Devamp Project - Garamonde - 05-23-2011

I prefer the bottom yellow one, but he's right, you can only have four colors including black and transparency or white. You'll have to make Sandile's belly dark like the stripes or something.

RE: Pokemon G/S/C Devamp Project - mutantyoshi - 05-23-2011

Alright.

I have two versions with four colors then
the pink became black
or get rid of the white.

(don't worry about the top ones....just didn't feel like deleting them, but I will soon),

and we have one for yellow.

RE: Pokemon G/S/C Devamp Project - Garamonde - 05-23-2011

Yes, the one with the black underneath looks more fitting. You have to keep the white for the lighting. I'd say that looks pretty good.

You can't do that. White=transparent

hey nick; i've been looking through your sprites and i think some of them could do with a palette optimisation and/or reworking.
here's an example with boldore:

i hope it helps and gives you ideas how to make the others better! Smile

Man I love this thread. It's a shame though...most of my devamps are in R/B/G style
[Image: Lugia_RB.png][Image: Lucario_RB.png][Image: Dialga_RB.png][Image: Palkia_RB.png][Image: Reshiram_RB.png]
(That and most of them have already been done by nick, whose are way better.)

I'd never tried G/S style, so I decided to take a whack at it, and...oh man, I hate G/S style. x.X
[Image: Lucario_GS.png]
I don't know. I really like the pose, I think I managed to take advantage of the 56x56 without distorting his proportions too much. The palette really killed me and that's where I'd like advice. I was looking through the G/S sprites and saw that whenever they could use color (even if the secondary color was really small/unneeded), they'd use color, and so decided not to just use two shades of blue, which would be more 1st Gen-esque. But I HATE dithering, and I still feel like it looks too much like an MS paint doodle.

So yeah, C+C massively appreciated. I used Feraligatr's palette, btw. (Also, I saved a copy of the lineart since I might redo it using a grey color as the secondary shade to get rid of the big chunks of black).

RE: Pokemon G/S/C Devamp Project - Garamonde - 05-26-2011

That's a cool pose. Those R/B/Y sprites are pretty rad too. Nice job.

EDIT: @Ike: I changed my post but I didn't know you were looking at the thread before I changed it.

RE: Pokemon G/S/C Devamp Project - Perseus - 05-26-2011

No it doesn't, it's got four
But I think it's brilliant and so are the R/B/Y ones Smile

Edit: @Mighty Jetters: That's okay Smile
