I know it's just a status bar, but that is sweet.

Well well, with the site up and running again, I guess we can show off whatever's not secret for the project again, right Smithy?

RE: The Loving Couple's 8bit Action/RPG - SmithyGCN - 12-12-2008

I'll see what I can do. Today was too busy for me to do much of anything project related. :/

RE: The Loving Couple's 8bit Action/RPG - Jelleye - 12-13-2008

I gues I'll keep you guys up to date this time then. I'm sorry for taking so long to update, but I'm experiencing a lot of PC-problems at the moment, and I'm also having my exams.

The newest build pretty much contains the finished combat engine (attacking, changing equipment, getting hit, ... all taking in count enemy and character stats (str, def, ...)), aswell as a pretty much finished HUD containing a HP, TP and Faith meter, as well as a counter that keeps how much more EXP is required for the next level as a gold counter. Don't worry, the coins the dummy enemy leaves in the small movie are just quick thingies I created to test the engine, the real graphics are way better, but I didn't have em yet at the time. Also, the preparations for the introduction have been made, it just needs to be filled in with the actual text for it to be complete (second screen). Again, the second screen isn't as nice as the real thing as the leaves are supposed to be animated, now they looks like ugly, rotated sprites.

I also couldn't get the framerate of the animated gif right, so know it's actually 60fps. The colors aren't right either, due to gif compression.

Ahahahaha, I could'nt resist to find the punching bag funny. XD

Demille: What have I done to deserve this?!

Heroine: Don't worry Demille, it's just about as dangerous as the damage shown! Genki ^_^

Demille: ... reassuring... T_T

5-minutes later:

Heroine: See it was'nt so bad. Genki ^_^

Demille: BARF...

(note that BARF was a joke on RiverCityRansom, he did'nt barf literelly)

Yeeeee-aaaah.... If you hve to explain the joke, it's no longer funny, Rukifellth. :p

Anyway, sorry about going dead silent for a while. We'll have another update later today.

Cool! Can't wait to see some more!

Oh, and I've fixed Demille's walking and added summoning mini-sprites and facepic. I've put it up on the site. Buuuuuut, I've noticed that there is a problem with the Comment system, sometimes what you've written as a comment won't appear.

Sorry for keeping everyone waiting, and I know that this isn't much of an update. This is a make-shift mock up screen of the main female character encountering Gleeok, who is by this time, a finished sheet.

We've had a frustrating holiday season, so things were kind of at a stand still for a while.

That's nice to hear, I also saw the test room in action, very nice.

Quick Question: Was Concept art needed or did you just use your noodle all the way through?
