Okay, I'll remove the pixel on the eye. (That bothered me too.)
What's hurting the readability on the arm? Should I make the limbs brighter?

In Super Mario Brothers Deluxe, I think there were two blocks like that in Versus mode.

the face blocks are too messy because you overshaded them though
but please, make something else. I really liked that Kaio pixelart because it was unique :o

What about making thing more simple? Your NES SSB sprites are one of your best, while in the others, the shading effects are overused.
