RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|We have weekly Brawl tournaments - recme - 12-22-2015

anybody can talk about negative aspects for the games all they want. drew said, "where are my 1p modes?" which is perfectly fine.

my only problem is that koopaul sounds like a fucking baby when he states his opinion, like "oh, sakurai has made nothing but bad choices" or "sakurai picks the voices for HIS game? what is this?" its the same fuckin post every month. im sick of seeing it. (mostly) everyone is sick of seeing it. ignoring his posts isnt a solution.

about the voices kriven, i understand that voices are important to some people, but its just not a priority. for example, if you think of your dream character, you think of their moveset and shit, not whos voicing them. its all really just a small thing to worry/complain about. in street fighter 2, i imagine that many people back then cared more about the gameplay than the annoying voiceovers.

also lol koh, i was reading through your post until i saw was undertale, sonic fan characters, and deviantart. what the fuck are you even talking about dude haha.

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|We have weekly Brawl tournaments - Koh - 12-22-2015

My point with those was that it's just as annoying seeing those same exact things en masse every day, but I don't have any right to tell them they can't post them either. I thought I was pretty straight forward with my point, but I guess not. Hopefully it's easier to understand now.

People have different ways of expressing theirself. Maybe in Koopaul's eyes, just about everything Sakurai did WAS a total letdown for him. He's not speaking for everyone, just for himself. It could be a hyperbole, or it could not be. Only he knows, because it's from his point of view.

If you disagree with it, fine, post your reasons why you think otherwise and/or provide examples. But there's no need to call him out on the spot, you know? I can't believe I'm explaining this, honestly.

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|We have weekly Brawl tournaments - recme - 12-22-2015

difference is, koopaul is just one guy, not a whole fanbase. its easier to tell koopaul to quit being annoying rather than telling a whole fanbase throughout social media websites to stop being annoying.

the only thing im asking for is if koopaul can express himself in a way that doesnt make me want to tear my eyeballs off my face. like, when kriven gives his negative thoughts, theyre refined and have explanations. koopauls is flat out "sakurai makes bad choices." what type of discussion can that lead to? choices sakurai has to make? give me a break

i didnt agree or disagree with shit. did you even read my post, dude? im saying how its annoying to see koopaul make the same posts about how much he hates the decisions sakurai makes and shit like that. i told him firmly last time that it was unhealthy to be stressed about that stuff and how he should refrain from it. and here he is now, doing the same shit.

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|We have weekly Brawl tournaments - Keychain - 12-22-2015

if you dont like koopaul's negative stance on the game then just ignore him... like everyone is allowed to talk about what they want to talk about and it's not like koopaul's an isolated case, lots of people such as myself are rather disappointed with the way smash4 was handled. just because koopaul doesn't share the same opinion as you doesn't mean he cant talk about it .. . just fucking ignore him

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|We have weekly Brawl tournaments - DioShiba - 12-22-2015

On the subject of negativity regarding smash, No one is saying that it's a "no" to talk about those kinds of things.

Hell to tell you the truth there's a lot of things that I don't like about the game, That doesn't mean I need to express the same point every time I post something negative about it. This is where I kind of just said to Koopaul that he should just let the matter go to rest because it really got to the point where it was just the same points over and over again and then saying "Sakruai made a bad game".

It's not me really saying that he should "Shut the fuck up" about his opinion, that's not my place to say or tell him to stop posting his opinion. It's kind of me saying in a way that "I get it".

And lets be honest there's a lot of things Sakurai could have done better, that doesn't mean that it's a totally shit game. But if we're at least going to talk about it then I'd say maybe at least make the posts a bit more constructive than just blatantly posting the same thing every time. Hell you could bring up how lame the single player experience was, how the game should have stuck to the Wii U instead of being on the 3ds and Wii U. And there's a shit ton I would have to say about how there isn't a tournament mode offline. And I still wouldn't be bothered by that as long as it isn't going over the same points over and over again and then making a ton of claims how Sakurai made a bad game, and frankly I just don't get how that would make for any kind of constructive conversation at all.

And I get Koh's point that things that are posted everyday by the masses can't really be stopped, I mean shit if someone for example wants to express for liking to something like My Little Pony, which is something that I don't like mind you that doesn't mean I'm going to stop anyone from expressing it. Same on the flip-side if someone wants to post something negative about My Little Pony. But if someone is going to post something negative about it then the least they can do is at least try to make a constructive reason why they don't like it by saying that "It just never appealed to me and I don't really get how people like it, but that doesn't mean I have a problem with the franchise" instead of constantly shoving your perspective in people's face.

And it's okay for people to disagree with those kinds of opinions too, but you know, the least anyone on either side of a discussion can do is not get defensive about it to the point where it could cause a shit-storm.

That being said, is there really any need to drag out this discussion any further than it already has gone in a thread where we are talking about Smash? If there isn't then we should stop being so damn critical of each other and move on.

EDIT: I didn't realize Keychain posted before me about just ignoring people by the time I finished this post =P. Meh, no matter. apologies if I rambled on about this more than it needed to go.

I just realized we have an ignore function. Cool. Sorry guys for complaining before, that won't happen again.

Has anyone tried picking up Cloud yet? I absolutely adore his girthy dair hitbox. He feels so smooth. Definitely want to try and get better with this character.

Oh god yes.

I actually made him one of my mains just because he's quick and hard hitting in comparison with alot of the other fighters in the roster. Alot of things are actually very useful about him too when it comes to using the Limit Break function.

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|We have weekly Brawl tournaments - recme - 12-22-2015

i never said i hated negative responses about the game. im saying that i hate the way koopaul expresses himself about the game. if he was more civilized about it, like not saying stuff like, "every choice sakurai makes is a bad one."

i guess ill just put him on my ignore list, if thats what you guys call a solution lol :p

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|We have weekly Brawl tournaments - [robo9] - 12-22-2015

Guys, can we talk about how PM died for our sins here recently?

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|We have weekly Brawl tournaments - Kriven - 12-22-2015

ReCloud: I'm (probably stupidly) holding out for whatever Nintendo's new account system is in the hopes that it will work like the Deluxe Digital whatever and give me some kind of credit for buying digital things, so I haven't tried him out yet. How does he compare with Ike? They looked fairly similar in the trailer.

I actually don't know much about that beyond the initial announcement that the project was closed. Did Nintendo step in and tell them to pack it up?

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|Bayonetta Ballot = George W. Bush in Florida - Helmo - 12-22-2015

They said themselves they just decided to stop.

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|Bayonetta Ballot = George W. Bush in Florida - [robo9] - 12-22-2015

Well, they're planning on releasing a new game made by themselves. However after talking to a lawyer, they discovered that continuing their work on PM could cause Nintendo to sue them and their new game, arguing that they used Brawl/PM/Nintendo assets as some sort of base for their new commercial game

That's according to a PM member, atleast

More civilized? That's quite insulting. You make it sound as if I demonize the man using derogatory terms. I never dream of doing such a thing. The way you describe my posts, it almost seems like you really don't read what I'm saying. Or you don't understand my point.

The truth of the matter is that Sakurai did NOT make a bad game! That's not what I'm trying to say. It was a very fun game. Of course it was. It's Smash Bros. Smash is inherently fun! It didn't matter who Sakurai put in, or what he did with those characters. The game was always going to be fun. So in a way, the game being fun doesn't mean anything to me. It's just as fun as it was 16 years ago as it is now. What I look forward to in a new Smash game is the new content. And this game, for me, failed to deliver.

The voices thing was to show that Sakurai shows more respect to certain franchises than others. He'll go through painstaking detail to make sure a character is accurate as possible, but then do willy-nilly to other characters. Especially Wario! Look what he did to him. Wario is a mere parody in this game to what a truly great character he is and should be.

If every character got the same treatment, I wouldn't mind as much, but he only does this to certain characters. He has shown me that he simply doesn't have the all-around respect for all of Nintendo's works.

That's what it's all been about. The respect. It's not about making a good game (which he did) Its about being responsible with these franchises and being respectful to all of them. If you are making a game celebrating Nintendo, you need to keep your own personal biases out of it, and do what will best celebrate this company as a whole.

EDIT: As for ignoring me, I feel very insulted. You do realize that by ignoring me it means you won't see my posts for the ENTIRE forum! Not just here. I tested it out on Helmo (don't worry you're fine now) to see how it works. I can't even send you a PM or an email. You should be more responsible with that feature.

What I don't understand is how the PM team think Nintendo could make that claim without any sort of ground to stand on.  It's basically saying "You were once a hacker, so everything you're doing after that must be based on your hacking work."  They'd have no proof unless they saw the source code, and even then, there are many things one does in code that simply don't change a whole lot in terms of execution.  Also, many 2D games have used other games as bases for something, like sprites or whatever, and have had no issues.  For example, the Robopon games on Gameboy Color clearly have Pokemon style overworld trainer sprites going on for their trainers, but they AREN'T Pokemon's overworld trainer sprites, so they're fine. If they were pixel-by-pixel copies, there'd be an issue, but no two assets are exactly the same.

RE: TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|Bayonetta Ballot = George W. Bush in Florida - TomGuycott - 12-23-2015

They reverse engineered and edited THEIR copyrighted technology and software.

No ground to stand on? Are you for real?

Also Koopaul, in Wario's case he's catering to the "goofy Wario" from WarioWare, as that is definitely popular in Japan. And frankly in other games with Mario Characters involved he's pretty goofy anyway.
