Assuming I have the money for it, I'll be getting a pre-order for it. The Wii U looks pretty great, and I'm really looking forward to the new types of gameplay they can create with the new controller support.

I'm still hoping for Steam to be on the Wii U, and if Gabe Newell's (citation needed) interested in the Wii U there's gotta be some great stuff there, right?

I know Zelda will be on it. I know (a good) Mario will be on it. Hell, even Donkey Kong could be on it. And they won't be on any other console.

I never got this - if your going to buy a console because of games that will eventually come out on it... why not wait until those games are out? Not only are you more likely to get a cheaper console, but a pack-in title of a game you want is also more likely. I've resisted buying a Vita as there's no "wow" game on it yet even though my Sony fanboyism is screaming out for one (luckily a friend has one, WipeOut loading times really really suck though).

I brought a PS3 at launch because of the games it WOULD have (and because a friend was selling it at a damn good price) and sat and played MotorStorm, Resistance and Heavily Sword - which were all fine games (specially for near launch). But sitting around waiting for Metal Gear Solid 4 and Monster Hunter 3 (I'm still blaming Nintendo, I don't care if it makes no sense to) meant I should have probably waited and saved myself some cash (if a friend wasn't selling it cheap).

And as Nintendo isn't famous for it's online, and I can't see any launch game being online, you could just wait even longer for lots of price drops. Oh wait, Nintendo doesn't drop prices on there games...

Nintendo have stated they like to be in control. They've always been control freaks (specially in the NES/SNES days) - you will never ever see Steam on the Wii U, ever.

I bought SNES and 64 on the day when they came out, but in the WiiU case I will wait until this system has at least 5 great games on it. Pikmin 3 is one of them.

Not yet. Nintendo has yet to prove to me why it is super amazing. It seems to have neat features but I really hope they don't screw up the launch like 3DS (i.e. bring a good console out before any games are ready, release a handful of mediocre ones and, several months later, some remakes.) I might consider when (original) Zelda Wii U is announced.
If you notice, Nintendo did really well at E3 the past two years (not including this abysmal one), because they had Zelda, a juggernaut of a franchise. Mario is all well and good, but they just pour out so many titles that it seems less 'novel' with each new installment.

I'm debating whether or not I should get it.

But then again, kinda tight on money right now.

RE: Want The Wii U For Christmas? - Dazz - 06-21-2012

I have no choice but to get it at launch, since The VG Resource and all.

But I'm pretty excited. It'll be nice because I want a tablet for my living room and don't need it while I'm out of the house... It looks like it'll be good for connectivity too, and since I can play on the gamepad alone that'll mean I can play it while Charlie whines in my ear. So that'll be cool.

But yeah, I'm excited, I'll get it on preorder once it's available. The Wii was great for a couple years after launch, Nintendo tend to not fail that. Except the 3DS but let's ignore that.

oh the wonders of a carefree youth when you could simply take a console out of your parents's budget.

The only real block buster they have right now is NSMBU. I'm still debating if i should get the system. seems good though

Only block buster?
I could've sworn Nintendo had another block buster game coming out on system launch(besides Nintendo Land).

Can't put my finger on it though.

Holy crap is that a stone Pikmin...?

RE: Want The Wii U For Christmas? - Virt - 07-02-2012

Why yes, yes it is.

I'm having a hard time figuring out if the pikmin are 3D renders or if they're little sculptures. Unsure

rendered scene

RE: Want The Wii U For Christmas? - Kriven - 07-02-2012

What? No it isn't. The promotional work for the Pikmin series has always been made with clay, and that scene looks to continue the trend.

explain, whilst i compile a list of reasons why i think it looks rendered
dont mean to sound harsh or mean, just saying to me it looks rendered

RE: Want The Wii U For Christmas? - Star - 07-02-2012

Kriven, the promo art for Pikmin 3 is, in fact, rendering.

Idk why they changed it to rendering, but they did.
