Haha, kind of, it's hard to get the quills right.

If you want to get the quills right, you're best off using a reference. This is in a straight-foward frontwards view, correct?

I have some pretty decent references for you right here, actually! Took me just a few seconds on Google images. :>

Since Sonic's quills arch down--they don't stick straight outt (and even if they did, you still would see only a little "nub" for the top quill)--thus that should be shown like so. Obviously since the rest of Sonic's head covers the backside of it, the only part of the quill you see (I'm mainly talking about the topmost quill, here) will be the top of the "arch" of his quill.

Also, the eyes likely shouldn't be slanted at the top like they are. It really doesn't look right, see if you can just even it out.

(Oh, and also you seem to have banded/pillowed a bit on Sonic's belly. Especially at the bottom of it)

Okay, I also see a major flaw in the shading on his head: you've shaded it as just one flat object, which is not good. Make sure to shade it more like its 3D; you know how that, on an object, the spots closest to the source of light [obviously] have more exposure, correct? You treat front view the same way as you would a profile or 3/4 view in this instance, it just takes a little more imagining. Sonic's forehead and top of his forequill are likely the most exposed to light.

Also, make sure you have a little more contrast between the two shades of red on his shoes, or maybe even just scrap the second shade of red altogether.
Speaking of contrast, I think you have just a little bit too much of it between the main peach color and the second shade of it. Just a little.

Sorry if I'm nitpicking, I guess this is just how I know how to help out. ^^;

*Insert rant here about using M&L style as a starter spriting style*
*Talks about how that kind of stuff is what made M&L overused in the first place*
